Help bring ZAnews back!

Inspired by cult shows "Spitting Image" and "Les Guignols de l'Info", ZAnews was developed over 12 years because the producers thought South Africa was more than ready for, actually in need of, such a programme. However mainstream SA broadcasters thought differently, so they decided to take their concept online.

Since its launch in October 2009, it has won numerous awards including Financial Mail's "2010 Newsmaker of the Year", Gold and Bronze DMMA Bookmarks, Best SA Video Blog, a Prism and a Best Design Award from the globally acclaimed Handspring Puppet Theatre Company.

Although they have managed to keep their costs at a tiny fraction of what similar shows around the world cost, the show still costs millions of rands a year to produce and manage. Current funding does not allow them to carry on, so sadly they have to retire their puppets to their boxes.
