Cape Town-born, Joburg-based DJ Wags (aka Adam Wagenheim) wins a spot on the station's popular Fresh Drive show and other prizes. DJ Fresh, who is well known in dance music circles for nurturing up-and-coming DJ talent says, "The spot is the biggest feature on the station and winning a residency to play on there can only do wonders for your DJ career."
Wags will play opposite Ultimix@6 DJs Dino Bravo, Kent and the station's Euphonik and Fresh at the three album launch parties in Durban, tonight 4 November 2011, Cape Town Friday 11 November and Joburg 18 November.
DJ Wags, who also plays regularly at Clapham Gold in Fourways, says, "I have been DJing for almost 10 years and it has been a passion of mine since high school. I draw inspiration from the slot and try to be in the car every evening at 6pm so I can hear the mix. I am at the stage in my career now where I want to take things to the next level and being a resident will help me do that.
"Winning the competition is an honour and I am grateful to everyone who has supported and encouraged me over the years. This is a great platform for DJs to show off their skills and it means a lot to me to be recognised. I'm looking forward to the tour and can't wait to entertain South Africa."
