Joburg wild card wins Brain of Brains

The Brain of 702, wild-card entrant Max Weldon, battled it out against the Brain of CapeTalk, also a wild-card winner, Allister Davidse, and won a total of R40,000 in cash and the “Brain of Brains” title.
The final play-off took place live on-air and simultaneously on the breakfast shows of Talk Radio 702 with John Robbie and 567 CapeTalk with Aden Thomas and brought an end to the stations' respective campaigns to search for the brain of their city.
The campaigns ran simultaneously over a four-week period and pitted two listeners against each other live on-air as they each answered as many general knowledge questions as possible in 60 seconds. Six games were played each day and, based on a knock-out structure, each winner from each game bagged R1,000 a round and got to play again in the next round until they were knocked out. The final winner of each day went through to the quarterfinal round, which was played at different shopping centres around both cities each Saturday.
“By going to the shopping centres, we were able to show once more that we can take the radio stations out of the studios and to the people,” said Talk Radio 702 station manager, Pheladi Gwangwa.
