Jacaranda's winter challenge raises R1.4 million

In a single day, Jacaranda 94.2 raised over R1.4 million towards new blankets for more than a hundred charity organisations assisting less fortunate communities this winter.

As part of its largest Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiative of the year, popular 94.2 FM presenters set up a call centre on Friday 20 July, appealing to listeners and corporates to take up the Winter Warmer challenge. It did not take long for the station's more than 2.4 million weekly listeners - as well as sponsors and valued clients - to pick up the phone and pledge cash and blankets.

"We are incredibly humbled by the generous natures of our listeners," says Alan Khan, CEO of Jacaranda 94.2. "Our station is the Feel Good choice of millions of listeners. The Winter Warmer challenge showed us that our listeners wanted to help other, less privileged people to feel good too this winter."

Since Jacaranda 94.2 launched its Winter Warmer campaign, in partnership with Gift of the Givers, it has raised over R3.3 million in blankets and cash, ensuring that thousands of underprivileged people managed to keep warm during the coldest months of the year.
