Future of bank branches in spotlight

Trade Conferences International will be hosting the inaugural Branch Banking Conference 2013 on 30 and 31 October 2013 at the Focus Rooms in Sunninghill, Johannesburg.

With the challenges that bank branches are facing today such as changes in the regulatory environment, competition from other banking channels and the rise of various new technologies, amongst others, debates surrounding the future existence of branches have gained prominence within the industry.

Change in customer needs

The event will focus on addressing the effectiveness of current branch strategies and the future of branches in a multi-channel banking environment. Some topics in the programme include why branches are still relevant today, the impacts of certain regulations on traditional banks and efficient branch banking, the changing nature of banking customers, dimensions of branch transformation and renewal, leveraging different technologies to enhance branch performance, the integration of multiple banking channels and future of branch banking.

"The conference will highlight how changes in customer needs and preferences and increasing competition from alternative channels, non-traditional and non-bank financial providers, has intensified pressure on bank stakeholders and decision makers to rethink strategies and adopt more customer-centric approaches within branches. It is certainly an occasion that is not to be missed," says the conference project manager, Samantha Blair.
