Date switched for Pro20 final

Cricket South Africa on Thursday confirmed the date and venue for the Standard Bank Pro20 final between the Gestetner Diamond Eagles and the Nashua Cape Cobras at Sahara Park Newlands.

Brian Basson, CSA General Manager: Cricket Operations explained the decision to change the date from Friday to Saturday as follows:

“Cricket South Africa in consultation with the sponsors Standard Bank, the host Franchise Nashua Cape Cobras and the broadcaster SuperSport has determined that the Standard Bank Pro20 Final, originally scheduled to be staged on Friday, 20th February, will be rescheduled for Saturday 21st. February.

This decision was made after Nashua Cape Cobras qualified to host the final with the object of avoiding a clash of two major sporting events occurring in close proximity to each other during the same evening. The Super 14 match - Stormers versus Reds - is scheduled to be played at the Newlands rugby ground on Friday evening.

“The final between Nashua Cape Cobras and Gestetner Diamond Eagles will therefore be played at Sahara Park, Newlands on Saturday 21st. February commencing at 18h00. In the event of the match not being completed on Saturday, the match will be replayed on the reserve day, Sunday 22nd. February commencing at 14h30,” Mr Basson concluded.
