AMASA golf day raises R60 000

The AMASA annual golf day, held last week, raised over R60 000 to aid its learnership programme (ALP) through support from sponsors, the media and advertising industry and the auctioning of top industry members.

Launched last year, ALP assists young individuals wanting to enter the exciting world of media, who would otherwise not be able to do so without financial assistance. With funds raised to date, AMASA is set to implement the 2010 programme, this year raising the number of sponsored interns from two to three.

This year's golf day themed 'Old School', attracted 148 golfers and resulting in an oversubscribed field. The 2010 sponsors were Mail & Guardian, RMS Media, NAB, Continental Outdoor, CNBC, Ramsay Media, Samsung, Red Cherry, Red Bull and FGI. The prizes table, which included sponsored prizes, was valued at over R20 000.
