Seaside fans can party and participate
Fans in Durban and Cape Town have an opportunity to experience the 2010 FIFA World Cup in exciting ways. The Mercury newspaper has Category 1 seats to give away, while in Cape Town fans get to have a spectacular view of Table Mountain, the Cape Town Stadium and Robben Island from the Lookout Village on the roof of the Breakwater Parking Garage at the V&A Waterfront.
The Mercury, has given over its masthead to countries playing or staying in Durban over the World Cup.
The Mercury newspaper has partnered with the city of Durban and Gagasi FM to give away a Jabulani ball every day for 100 days. The Lookout Village on the roof of the Breakwater Parking Garage at the V&A Waterfront comes at an entrance cost of R150 per person for big screen viewing.
WAN project
The Mercury is driving The World Football Reading Passport project with the help of the World Association of Newspapers (WAN). It provides editorial content that allows the newspaper to stimulate young or new readers to read editorial content and develop a deeper awareness of current events through an emphasis on the world's 'beautiful game'.
During the tournament, the newspaper's readers can look forward to guest editorials and content from a range of top international newspapers, including Spain's El Pais, Switzerland's La Liberte, Germany's Bild Zeitung and Australia's Sydney Morning Herald.
