The 33 finalists were selected by the SAFA organising committee from over 150 online nominations, which were received from a wide range of non-profit organisations in South Africa, Zambia and Tanzania.
The winners will be chosen by an independent, 13-person jury, comprising of leading authorities in the field of business, fundraising, philanthropy and social enterprise, including Inyathelo CEO Shelagh Glastrow, Sandra Ngwenya of the DG Murray Trust and seasoned community fundraiser, Tina Thiart. The winners from each category (excepting the Social Enterprise, which is Southern Africa specific), will have the opportunity to compete for international recognition at the 2013 Resource Alliance Global Awards for Fundraising, which takes place at the International Fundraising Congress in the Netherlands in mid-October.

SAIF was established in 1986 by a small group of South African fundraisers who felt the need to effectively promote and uplift the profession. It is a professional body for fundraisers and resource mobilisation officers.
The Resource Alliance is an international charity headquartered in London with regional offices in India and Uganda. It aims to be the global network for fundraising, resource mobilisation and philanthropy, building skills, knowledge and promote excellence within civil society.
