Decorex Talk Show gives design a voice

"It ain't been done before, so do it now - before Sven from Sweden does..." Garth Walker from Orange Juice Design is one of the industry professionals to speak his mind at Decorex Talk Show, a free-flow forum of fresh insights, passionate ideas and observations on décor and interior design, architecture, urban planning, art and beyond.

This essential industry seminar, hosted alongside Decorex shows country wide, has been so successful that Prof Des Laubscher, The Design Center, has come on board to coordinate and further developed Talk Show, while Belgotex Carpets joined as sponsors.

Talk Show 2006 starts off at Decorex KZN with a stellar line-up of design experts from Durban, Gauteng and Cape Town. The theme 'Some of my Favourite Things' gives the speakers a chance to talk about extremely diverse topics, from the latest thinking in what drives décor trends, design interventions in the wetlands of KZN, to graphic design used on the Constitutional Court. Travel through SA's streets with Garth Walker as he searches for a boerewors roll and discovers what makes him African. Throw in the design on Constitution Hill, the waterfront development in Durban and Talk Show 2006 presents a very diverse programme.

"I sincerely believe design will play an every increasing and important role in the lives of all our citizens," says Des Laubscher. "Talk Show gives us an unbelievable opportunity to discuss debate and challenge our thinking and drive home the importance of design in all its forms, tapping into the brains of some of our foremost professionals."

Says Melanie Froneman, director of Decorex SA, "Through Talk Show we wish to make a meaningful contribution to forge a South African design identity. A forum where local décor and design talent can gather and network creates a powerful force to stir up debate and spark off new ideas."
