Magazines double up on attraction, move publishers

The Woolworths Taste magazine has split its August 2010 cover to attract different foodies and Greeff Properties has announced its magazine will be published by Quantum Publishers.

In choosing the final cover for the current issue, the magazine team was firmly divided into two opposing camps: one favouring the cover featuring South African celebrity chef Justin Bonello's stylish braaied snoek and the favouring the rustic mozzarella, olives, anchovies and capers pizza created by its food editor Abigail Donnelly.

"Food is an enormously personal subject and what appeals to one may not have the same attraction to another. By giving the magazine two covers, we're allowing the reader to choose the magazine that most speaks to them," says the editor, Sumien Brink. To gauge buyer response, it is running a competition on the magazine's new website www.tastemag.co.z inviting readers to submit their vote for the preferred cover.

Quantum Publishers will publish Greeff Outlook, written and edited by award-winning journalist Hedi Lampert Kemper. The magazine is printed quarterly and hand delivered to 55 000 high LSM households across the Cape Peninsula and Greeff emails 6000 electronic versions of the magazine.

Quantum also publishes The Arch Magazine, Polo SA, and the loyalty programme magazines for the JD Group, including the Joshua Doore Club and other magazines in the group.
