Commenting on the funding at the function on Tuesday 17 November 2009, Tina Eboka, director of corporate affairs, Standard Bank said, “A partnership is more than simply providing a sponsorship for someone else to do good work it also requires dedicated, collaborative effort from both parties.”

The day also marked the launch of a massive Standard Bank HIV/AIDS campaign encouraging staff to be responsible and be tested. The campaign also includes a community engagement component. “We have promised to match each test done by our staff with one in our community. We are aiming to test as many employees as possible during the 16 days leading up to World Aids Day on 1 December,” says Peter Philip, head of corporate health at Standard Bank.
