Online technology boosts recruitment industry

Online recruitment in South Africa is a rapidly growing industry that offers both employers and employees rapid access to information. CareerJunction Index (CJI) has recently launched three Job Reports covering the IT, engineering and finance professions.

The in-depth reports are based on comprehensive data gathered from its website and provide detailed analysis on the relative ratio of supply and demand in the online job market.

The reports mainly focus on:

  • Difficulty of recruitment
  • Over/under supply of online labour
  • Skill shortages
  • Industry growth
  • Shifting & decreasing industries
  • Occupations currently high in demand
  • Location of online labour demand & supply
  • Job level of online labour demand & supply
  • Market related salary packages
  • Age trends

“I feel strongly about market awareness and believe that it is important to make the right recruitment decisions during this time of economic instability,” says Kris Jarzebowski CEO of CareerJunction.

According to the company, the index is the first of its kind and the only one in South Africa, currently providing this information - reports can be purchased at www.cji.co.za.

CV upload technology introduced

In another industry move, Careers24 announced on Wednesday 12 August 2009 that it is the first company in South Africa to introduce internationally acclaimed CV upload technology, used by more than 300 recruitment agencies worldwide. It takes CVs, created in a range of formats including MS Office, PDF (unlocked) and HTML, and online automatically pre-populates data fields based on information in the original document. Substantially reducing the capture time of CVs into a central database, it is a valuable tool for those with a recently created or updated CV.

"In our increasingly Web-enabled economy, getting noticed online by recruiters is one of the most important steps in the hiring process. Our new service aims to favourably position job seekers in the South African job market and effectively makes the job hunting process as efficient as possible," says Michelle Bisaro, Careers24 Business manager.
