Individuals, organisations and educators who have played an exceptional role in the development of supply chain education in Southern Africa are eligible for nomination. The awards are aimed at recognising and rewarding excellence in supply chain management education and raising awareness of efforts to develop the industry's people capabilities. There are a number of award categories, based on performance, sustainability, success and innovation.
“We will be looking for the Operations Management Education Programme of the Year, Student of the Year, Higher Education Institution Student of the Year and Corporate Educator of the Year,” explains SAPICS president Ken Titmuss. “The SAPICS categories include the SAPICS Authorised Education Provider of the Year and the SAPICS Lecturer of the Year.”
At last year's SCM Education Excellence Awards, guest speaker John van Wyk, Barloworld Logistics divisional director (Marketing and Sales), stressed that education and skills should be placed at the top of every agenda at board level in South Africa. He also commented that it was critical for the supply chain profession to develop an expanded sense of responsibility for its own education needs.
“Initiatives like these annual awards are helping to achieve this,” Titmuss states. The SCM Education Excellence Awards form part of SAPICS's ongoing drive to promote excellence in supply chain and operations management education, and they complement the long-established Logistics Achievers' Awards, which recognise companies that have effected business improvement.
