Retail Risk 2008

The Consumer Goods Council South Africa and Technews Publishing have announced they will jointly host a Retail Security conference early in 2008. The conference, titled Retail Risk 2008, will be held in Cape Town on 26th February, in Durban on 28th February and in Johannesburg on 4th March.

The Consumer Goods Council and Technews Publishing both have extensive knowledge of the security risks facing the retail environment today as well as the related solutions. By jointly hosting this conference, they aim to provide delegates with real world, practical solutions to assist in securing their businesses.

Technews is the publisher of Hi-Tech Security Solutions, South Africa's leading security publication addressing the security information needs of installers, systems integrators, consultants and specifiers who design and install security solutions; as well as end-users throughout South Africa's who are responsible for protecting their company's people, property and profits.

The Consumer Goods Council has initiated the Crime Prevention Program (CPP), a concerted industry effort to reduce crime and losses in the wider retail industry. The CPP is instrumental in the development of best practices and setting industry standards for retail crime prevention.

Retail, forecourt and distribution business owners and managers, as well as retail and distribution security/risk managers would be well advised to attend and discover what risks their organisations face and what solutions are available today.

“We have secured a panel of speakers respected across the industry for their expertise and market knowledge,” says Vivienne Dorrington, CEO of Technews Publishing. “The presentations will not simply be a forum for a sales pitch, but will be focused in providing attendees with real knowledge they can immediately apply in their organisations.”

Following the presentations, vendors will be able to demonstrate their solutions in an exhibition area, where further networking and information exchange can take place. This will make the conference an excellent opportunity to network among peers working in the same industry and experiencing the same security risks.

Apart from the networking experience, all attendees will receive a CD with the presentations and associated white papers for further research. In addition, there will also be white papers and additional information on the CD from companies that could not be afforded the opportunity to present due to time constraints.

Retail Risk 2008 will provide delegates with a strategic overview of retail risk trends globally and in South Africa. It will also cover global best practices in dealing practically with retail risk and security, while examining a real-world implementation of security technologies, solutions and services.

The cost of the conference, refreshments, lunch and the research material is R1,450 incl. VAT per delegate. Group bookings for three or more delegates qualify for a 10% discount.
