Ethiopia opens coffee quality centre
ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA: Ethiopia, the world sixth biggest coffee producer, announced on Monday, 14 September 2009, it had opened a quality control centre to boost exports of the product, which accounts for 60% of foreign revenue.

The opening of the Quality Certification Centre and Warehouse Operation in the southern town of Hawassa comes two years after the country won a lengthy trade dispute with Starbucks to brand its own coffee.
"This will be a tremendous boost to Ethiopia's specialty market edge and will increase buyer confidence in Ethiopian coffee worldwide," the Ethiopia Commodity Exchange said.
