First of the Product of the Year 2012 winners

Product of the Year, one of the world's largest consumer-voted awards for product innovation, currently operates in 28 countries and aims to guide consumers to the best products in their market and reward manufacturers and innovation. Two of the South African winners have announced their triumphs - Dr Robert Rey Sensual Solutions and Twinsaver.

Winners are chosen through a nationally represented study conducted by TNS. Winning products are announced in January and winners receive the right to use the Product of the Year seal of approval for one year. The awards will be presented on 2 February 2012.

Product of The Year - Premium Beauty category

Dr Robert Rey Sensual Solutions won this category after months of research with over 5000 consumers voting across South Africa.

"This means that our products are great - not because we say so - but because our consumer's say so, after only being on the market in South Africa. Our congratulations to our team at House of Rey South Africa," says Dr Robert Rey, Hollywood plastic surgeon and entrepreneur behind the range.

"The products represent the type of innovation that South African consumers have been missing for years. We applaud the SHM Group & Dr Reza Mia for bringing products that are innovative and add value to South African consumers' lives. This range is deserving of its award," says MD of Product of The Year, Preetesh Sewraj.

Nampak Tissue has received two 'Product of the Year' awards - one for Twinsaver in the Toilet Paper category for its luxury 2 Ply range and one for the Facial Tissue category for its newly launched Stylepack.

"These awards guide consumers to the best products in the category and rewards manufacturers for quality and innovation," comments Hugh Wilson, marketing manager for the Twinsaver brand.
