Avis improves black ownership in 2010 BBBEE rating
According to its November 2010 assessment and verification process conducted by independent BBBEE rating company, Empowerdex, Avis has retained its Level 2 empowerment rating and continues to be the leading BBBEE rated car rental company amongst the larger operators in South Africa.

Initially rated at Level 6 three years ago, its rating was boosted to Level 2 in 2009 when the holding company, Barloworld, instituted a structured share equity allocation programme to address ownership scores within the Group.
"This year's new rating has also seen steady improvements in black ownership and black women ownership, reaching new highs of 65.76% and 18.63% respectively," says Avis chief executive Wayne Duvenage.
