In a continuously growing industry with 6400 individual South African wines available, only 33 labels were awarded 5 stars in the 2009 edition.
The Forrester Meinert Chenin (FMC) is a tribute to renowned winemaker and good friend Martin Meinert, who has made this wine since its first release in 2001.
Ken Forrester's portfolio of, and dedication to, Chenin Blanc wines is a testimony of what can be done with this versatile grape variety. He thoroughly embraced the (now 40 year old) Chenin Blanc vines when he acquired the farm Scholtzenhof in 1993, and went on to produce world class white wine.
The FMC was awarded a Decanter Trophy (UK) in 2007 for the 2004 vintage, whilst the authoritative Wine Spectator (USA) rated the 2005 vintage one of the Top 250 wines in the world and gave a 93 point rating for the 2006 vintage - said to be the highest score any white wine from South Africa has ever received. During 2008 The FMC 2006 also scored a raving review in the British Daily Telegraph newspaper as one of the world's Top 50 summer wines and the only South African white wine to be selected.
The wine retails from R260 per bottle and is available at wine outlets and restaurants nationwide.
