The gold for the estate's Sauvignon Blanc 2007 was one of four medals awarded to the estate at this year's competition, setting a personal best performance for Eikendal in this annual international contest.

In 2006, the estate walked away with the trophy for the best South African Chardonnay in this competition for its wooded Chardonnay 2004.

The other Eikendal medals at the 2008 Decanter World Wine Awards are silver for the cellar's first wine released in 2008, a silky rich Semillon 2007 named Cleopatra's Wedding Present, and bronze medals for the flagship Bordeaux blend Eikendal Classique 2005 and Eikendal Cabernet Franc 2005.

The Sauvignon Blanc 2007 is available from R40 per bottle at leading supermarkets and wine outlets countrywide or directly from the cellar. The 2008 vintage is due for release in July 2008.
