“This commercial was a challenge from the point of view of showing a young guy communicating his memories through the thoughts and feelings that various home ware objects evoke as he unpacks them,” says Murray. “Without literally showing his memories, I sought to capture the right tone and feeling through an understated, introspective but still emotion rich performance that engages the viewer. This was supported by low key, moody lighting and an original, emotive, bluesy music track.”
Says Herdbuoys Ekapa Creative Director Duncan Wares, “Murray really got behind the idea from the start and certainly proved his storytelling ability. He truly understood the simplicity and sensitivity we wanted...”.
The result is a quiet, performance-driven commercial created to communicate the authentic, homely values that the brand stands for but now communicates to a younger market. Anthony Lee Martin of Deliverance edited the commercial and Jorge Carlos Arrigone of Alchemy Audio provided the original music score.
