Content more important than duration, rules Vodacom Journalist judges
The rules had stated that reports must be longer than three minutes in duration.
The judges decided this week that the criterion for entries will be changed so that entries will not be restricted to time duration. The length of the report will not serve as a qualification for entry, "but rather the content of the report". Thus, a news report, for example, running to 45 seconds, can be entered.
This change will also apply to features.
Entries from all over South Africa have already started pouring in for this year's event as entry deadline - 18 July 2006 - draws closer.
The competition begins with the Regional Finals, which will be held around the country, starting on 28 August 2006, and the winners in the various sections will compete in the National Finals.
The National Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, 29 October, 2006, at Vodaworld, Midrand, Gauteng.
