2010 FIFA World Cup News


Choose the Bafana Bafana song

The SABC's competition to write an official Bafana Bafana song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup received over 5000 entries, from which the panel of judges selected five finalists. They are Mac van der Merwe from Centurion; Kelvin Naidoo from Pietermaritzburg, Layola Madikizela from Carletonville, Don Clarke from Southern Drakensberg area and Ntshabeng Tlali from Durban.

Their songs will be aired on all the SABC radio stations and television platforms from 23 April 2010 to 4 May allowing listeners and viewers to vote by SMS to 34022. The winning song will be announced on the 9 May and will receive airplay on SABC platforms before and during the World Cup.

Judges

The judges were a mix of music experts and musicians

  • Jamela Maakana - music compiler for Munghana Lonene FM
  • Mohlouoa Mile - music manager and backstage manager for large music festivals
  • Lubabalo Sibindlana - musician, songwriter and music teacher, worked in LA for the Lion King
  • Tinus Esterhuizen - musician and songwriter.
