Design a cooling tower to win R25,000

The landmark Orlando Cooling Towers in Soweto will be the home to a new competition, as the west tower is painted in Vodacom red, ahead of the its 'Design the Tower' competition, launching at the end of November 2013.

The winner of the competition will have his or her design painted onto the colossal 91.4 meter high tower, where it will be showcased for a minimum of two years. In addition, the winner will receive R25,000 cash.

"We're excited to be making our mark on one of the most recognisable heritage sites in Gauteng. By giving Soweto residents the opportunity to showcase their designs on this iconic landmark, we hope to add to Soweto's already rich culture," said Mosidi Seretlo, Vodacom's executive head of brand communications.

The competition details will be communicated in the local press, on local radio station Jozi FM and on Soweto TV in the coming weeks. The competition will be run in three phases - entry, selection of finalists with the overall winner being voted for and announced on Vodacom's Facebook page.
