Commenting on his Cannes appointment, McLennan said, "It's an honour for me and for South Africa to be chosen to chair the Radio Jury. Radio is an important medium in South Africa and we have done pretty well in this category. I am really looking forward to working with the world's leading creatives to find the freshest work for one of our oldest mediums."

Philip Thomas, CEO of Cannes Lions, added, "Being asked to preside over a jury in Cannes is an honour but it can also be a challenging task leading a jury through a mass of global entries to award the world's best work and showcase it to thousands of creative minds. He has been chosen not only for his proven standing and achievements in the industry but also for his ability to lead his jury in successfully deciphering the 2012 winners. We look forward to welcoming him in Cannes."

Winning a multitude of awards over the years, McLennan has been responsible for many memorable campaigns including Dulux 'Any Colour you can Think of', Axe 'Get a Girlfriend', Virgin Atlantic 'Plain Insanity' and Mercedes Benz 'Accident Avoidance'. He also has a collection of over 35 Lions.
