D&AD digital president elected

LONDON: In a break from tradition, the D&AD Executive Committee will formally elect a president from the digital sector tonight, Wednesday, 12 September 2007. Simon Waterfall, creative director of Poke London, will be D&AD's leading ambassador and spokesperson for the next 12 months and the first creative from the digital sector to take on this high profile role.

Outgoing president Tony Davidson will hand over the reins at the D&AD Presidents' Dinner at the Royal College of Art in London.

“Over the coming year, I want to use all of D&AD's communication channels to shine a bright creative light and share a little electricity with our members, clients and the rest of the world,” says Simon Waterfall. “I'm really looking forward to bringing more of D&AD's amazing content to a wider audience.”

“Throughout D&AD's 45-year history, presidents have come from the traditional advertising and design worlds,” says Davidson. “Simon's election acknowledges the huge influence that digital media have on both arenas – it's become a creative playground for all disciplines. I wish Simon well in his electric year.”
