×Show profile Hide profileI am Luvo Mjayezi the Director and sole Founder of Umphakathi Ports and Culture Agency.
I have a registered business, Umphakathi Sports and Culture Agency a 100% black ownership. The business has been operating for a year now. I have not made any money as I had been focused on community development. I have invested my time, money and energy on helping with the development of the Kuyga community near Greenbushes in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. There I helped with the coaching of the Kuyga Rugby Team and establishing and facilitating of the sports forum of ward 41. I moved to Cape Town as I now have a job as I was previously studying whilst engaged with the above.
I am in the process of growing this initiative and need assistance. The aim of Umphakathi is to facilitate the development of youth from predisavantaged areas. Many of the youth from such areas struggle with to go through their junior a senior education and in most cases rarely pursuit or complete further studies. This is due to a number of reasons namely, poverty, poor standard of education, a lack or poor extra curriculum activities, gangsterism and "scolism" (lack of enthusiasm to work or study). To redress these issues Umphakathi sets out to establish a sports forum in Woodstock, Cape Town, South Africa that will integrate and centralize youth from schools located in the mentioned communities. A centralized place like Woodstock offers security and access to businesses and institutions that are able to offer funding, resources and support to such a cause. The forum will offer adequate sports facilities, training, skills and development, networking opportunities and talent exposure.
I currently have committed people gathering youth to participate, people that are willing to coach the different codes but still there is lots to be done as this is a big scale initiative that requires a lump sum of funding, resource intensive and a great deal of support.
Kind regards,
