    Egyptian human rights speaker to address iWeek conference

    Speakers from six continents are billed to speak at the South African internet industry's annual iWeek gathering, while the International Internet Industry Alliance (IIIA) and the Wireless Access Providers' Association hold their annual meetings simultaneously. Ramy Raoof, online media officer at the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, is included in the line-up.

    Other speakers are Juan Du Toit from MXiT, who will be joined by Peter Coroneos, chief executive of the Internet Industry Association (IIA), Dr. Roger Leslie Cottrell from the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory at Stanford University, Jack Unger, president of Ask-Wi.Com.

    Registration open

    The Internet Service Providers' Association of South Africa (ISPA) and UniForum SA (the co.za administrators) recently announced that registration is open for the 10th annual iWeek conference to be held from 21-23 September 2011. A number of key milestones including ISPA's 15th anniversary and the 10th birthday of the Teachers' Training initiative will be celebrated during the event.

    A number of local and international speakers will debate the theme, "How the internet has changed societies". The speakers will come to iWeek from six continents and will provide insights into topics such as the underground economy, open spectrum, challenges of scaling, social networking and e-learning.

    Open to internet industry participants

    iWeek 2011 is a free conference and most of the proceedings are open to anyone involved in the internet industry. The event takes place at Royal Elephant, Eldoraigne, Centurion, South Africa.

    One can also expect to see key involvement from MTN Business Solutions, Ad Dynamo, and Vox Telecom as key industry players within the internet industry. It is with this in mind that MTN Business has announced that the business will be the Diamond sponsor for the upcoming iWeek.
