Top level changes at McCain Foods

Frozen vegetable giant McCain Foods has implemented a number of top-level structure changes in the past few weeks to provide extra focus to high-growth global markets in Australia/New Zealand, China, India and other emerging areas in Asia and the Middle East.

These changes include the appointment, as of August 2013, of Rob Stevens to the position of MD of McCain Foods (SA), following the appointment of Louis Wolthers, (previous MD) to the global McCain Foods leadership team as regional president South Africa, Australia/New Zealand. Stevens is currently foodservice commercial director (South Africa).

Stevens joined the company in March 2012 and immediately took to his role of driving strong McCain Foods Foodservice growth across South Africa. Although recently tasked with the added responsibility of leading the McCain Foods (SA) Retail team, he has achieved a successful record of accomplishment in developing winning strategies across foodservice and retail, building strong teams across both divisions and improving process and productivity across the board.

This and his working knowledge of the South African marketplace, through previous positions with YUM Africa, where he was responsible for supply chain and innovation and with Tiger Brands, in which he held various roles including sales and marketing leadership positions, puts him in good stead to lead the South African operation to higher levels of sustainable profitability and growth.

Wolthers will be responsible for the SANZAR (South Africa, Australia and New Zealand) region, with his focus on accelerating growth in these high opportunity markets.

Both changes are aimed at aligning global strategies to deliver advanced company initiatives that will further consolidate the company's competitive advantage in the local and international marketplace.
