What do new SA kids think?

Children of today, between the ages of 10 and 14 are South Africa's future for the next two decades and beyond. In the new SABC2 television series Destination: SA, we meet this generation and find out what they want from life, their families, their communities and their country?

What does it mean to be part of a generation that only really knows the new South Africa? How well do they know each other and what do they know about their Nation's past? Destination: SA allows children throughout South Africa to discover the three elements that build a great nation; people, places and events for themselves.

Wilna van Schalkwyk, Commissioning Editor for SABC Education explains: "In Destination: SA, we locate young South Africans with inspirational, feel-good stories to tell about South Africa, and provide them with the means to tell their stories. Every South African child has an experience or adventure to share. Destination: SA captures these adventures and discoveries through the eyes of children throughout South Africa, a South Africa we can be proud of and be a big part of, now and in the future'.

The presenters Thuthu Zuma and Joanne Evans are fully trained in the art of capturing their own footage and interview techniques. The young participants in the series are encouraged to speak in the mother tongue they feel most comfortable with. All languages are then translated and incorporated as English sub-titles.

52 episodes of Destination: SA series II are scheduled for broadcast on SABC2, Wednesdays at 16h30, starting 20 April.
