Take your brand to the African continent

DStv's Channel O is promoting African music for the second consecutive year with the African Music Video Awards, which will be taking place on 31 March 2005. The awards are unique in that music videos are nominated and voted for by viewers from across the African continent, instead of a judging panel.

South African musicians like Thandiswa Mazwai, Hugh Masekela and Arno Carstens are amongst the nominees. The award ceremony will take place at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre and be broadcast on Channel O two days later.

Oracle Airtime Sales confirms that advertisers utilising this platform can be assured of high frequency and high reach across the African continent. Spots are cost-effective and ideal for exposing youth-orientated brands to this huge market.

This year's qualifying music videos were produced between October 2003 and December 2004 and received airplay on Channel O. It is hoped that the awards will go a long way in creating a climate where music videos can attain world-class standards.

Channel O General Manager Ayanda Tshabalala says, "The 2005 African Music Video Awards reflect the diversity of African music and also illustrate the trans-continental popularity of many of these artists."
