Kids definitely want to cook and travel

Figures for the past month from the SABC reveal that the kids’ cooking show ‘What’s your flava’ and travel show ‘Which Way’ - both produced by Okuhle Media - have exceeded expectations by more than doubling the anticipated ARs.

'What's your flava' has achieved 5.7 ARs, while 'Which Way' has received 4.4 ARs. This has secured them over 30% market share for their first flighting. Wilna van Schalkwyk, head of commissioning for children at the SABC, says, "Both shows have done extremely well - 'Whats Your Flava' has in fact achieved the highest rating ever for a local content children's show on SABC."

"We are extremely proud of the response to the shows. We have an incredible team of presenters and producers and were pretty confident that we had a winning formula, so it is fantastic to see this confirmed", comments Louise van Hoff, producer of both shows and director at Okuhle Media, a female-owned, BEE production and marketing company based in Cape Town.

'What's your Flava?' merges the core value of developing culinary skills in children with the thrill of cooking on television. Two young 'presenter chefs' cook recipes submitted from young people in schools all over the country within a half hour show. The show is screened on Tuesdays at 3pm on SABC 3.

The travel show 'Which Way' is an action packed journey across South Africa in a camper van with four adventurous teens and the coolest, wackiest mentor in the country. The show is screened on Thursdays at 3pm, also on SABC 3.
