“Since we are living in Africa, we should have African solutions for Africa problems. To achieve this we have focused on the spirit of ubuntu rather than western business principles and philosophy,” says owner and head coach of U-ACT, David Collins.
U-ACT has trained over 30 ex-addicts and people affected by addiction who are currently working in communities and organisations in many parts of South Africa, including Ennerdale, Eldorado Park, Eden Park, Soweto, Sebokeng, Polokwane, Cape Town, and Queenstown.
The Foundation Clinic, a supporter of U-ACT, has been providing professional substance abuse and addiction treatment services since 2001. The Foundation Clinic aims to create a better society which is often impacted by the harm of the addiction cycle. This is achieved by educating community leaders in the coaching tools needed in healing personal relationships, improving family life and by empowering the poor by reducing their misconceptions around drug abuse.
