KPMG supports youth development project

KPMG, a provider of audit, tax and advisory services, in conjunction with Food & Trees for Africa (FTFA) has donated 100 trees to the Masibambane Youth Development Project in Orange Farm south of Johannesburg in celebration of Arbor Month.

The Masibambane Project is a holiday programme that helps children develop life and practical skills to help them give back to their community and stay out of trouble. Approximately 1 000 learners will attend this programme with 50 facilitators, at seven different school venues across Orange Farm.

Reduce carbon footprint

This year's Arbor Month theme of "Forests are our Future", reminds us of how our lives are integrally linked to the planting of trees which indeed are an essential part of sustaining human life. They not only provide oxygen and food, but also provide shelter, improve the appearance of the area they are planted in and reduce dust in barren areas.

KPMG is committed to reducing the combined carbon footprint of their member firms, supporting environmental projects within their communities and working with their suppliers and clients to help them measure, report on and reduce their impact on the environment. These trees will offset a conservative 37 tons of carbon.

All over the country schools, communities, companies, politicians and individuals are joining the Trees for Africa Arbor Challenge towards healthy people on a healthier planet. KMPG has joined the communiTREE and mapped their trees on the regisTREE, and challenges others to go to www.trees.co.za to do the same.
