LM Radio coming back to Jozi

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has granted the station a licence to broadcast on the medium wave AM frequency in Gauteng. This is one of several medium wave licences granted. The station is expected to take to the air on 702 kHz in Gauteng late this year, once Sentech has constructed the transmitter facilities.
The station broadcasts happy music consisting of adult contemporary and gold format music with a proven track record.
The founder, Chris Turner said, "The station provides a unique music format that specifically targets the more mature audience aged 40 years and older. It has proven its format by serving an audience of over 150,000 listeners on FM in Mozambique and Lesotho and to South Africa on the internet and free to air satellite. There has been a demand for it to broadcast in South Africa. The granting of this licence by ICASA means that it will be able to meet the needs of our target audience."
