Munro to lead Liberty's integration into Standard Bank

As former CEO of Liberty, he has been assigned to integrate the life-insurance firm - which delisted from the JSE on 1 March 2022 - into Standard Bank.
Sim Tshabalala, Standard Bank Group CEO, said the group’s insurers, asset managers and bankers would create "a fiercely competitive African financial services giant".
“[Munro] is widely recognised as one of South Africa’s most accomplished corporate leaders. We are fortunate to draw on his formidable combination of expertise and energy in this new role," Tshabalala said.
Prior to joining Liberty in 2017 as chief executive, Munro served the Standard Bank Group for over 26 years, .
He was chief executive of Corporate and Investment Banking of Standard Bank Group, spearheading the Group's global presence, operating from 18 African countries and 13 countries on other continents, including the key financial centres of Europe, the Americas and Asia.
Munro has expertise in investment banking and emerging markets, with specific emphasis on Africa, the BRIC countries and natural resources.
He was with Liberty for five years.
