The acquisition drive comprises 1,9 million scratch cards, offering nothing less than 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60-day trial memberships, which will be inserted into community newspapers nationally, dropped into post-boxes in the vicinity where Planet Fitness clubs are located and handed out by clubs themselves. Similar scratch cards attached to water bottles will be handed out at high-traffic intersections during one day of the campaign. Regional radio and e-mail, sms messages to existing members will reinforce the campaign.
One name will be drawn from all redeemed vouchers, and that person will be entitled to pick one of 100 balls - 99 of which have cash amounts ranging from R5000, 00 to R30 000,00 and one which has the lucky R1 million.
Members of the public do not need to join Planet Fitness in order to qualify for the draw. Current members of Planet Fitness can also enter by referring their friends to take up a trial membership, which will then qualify them to enter the draw.
"People usually overindulge over the festive season and we feel that the best way to influence lifestyle changes is by encouraging to join a health club and to reward them for doing so. Every single person participating in this drive will receive something, the minimum being a free 20-day trial membership, so the benefits to consumers are tangible," says Mannee De Wet, MD for the Planet Fitness group.
The campaign runs from 15 January to 28 February, with the final draw and winner announcement taking place in Johannesburg at the end of March.
