Sanlam Cancer Challenge

The first is the Sanlam Cancer Challenge, reportedly the country's largest amateur golf tournament. This year the sponsor has pledged a 55% investment increase to elevate the experience for participants and increase the funds raised by the tournament. The tournament, a partnership between the corporate and Cancer Association of South Africa since 1993, has raised R24 million for this cause since its inception. The club competitions run from March to July 2010, the regional final from August to September 2010 and the final, this year at Sun City is on 25-26 October 2010.

Each individual's fees will be paid directly to CANSA, giving participating golfers the opportunity to make their own personal contribution to the battle against cancer. In addition, Sanlam has increased the marketing activities associated with the sponsorship to raise awareness and help achieve fund raising targets. Castle Lite SuperSport Shootout

The Castle Lite SuperSport Shootout (formerly entitled Pilsner Urquell) has raised over R4 million since the inaugural event in 2004. This premier golfing event is taking place 23-25 April 2010 at the Simola Golf & Country Estate, the first Jack Nicklaus signature designed golf course in South Africa, offering spectacular views of the Knysna Heads and lagoon.

South African Breweries' chosen beneficiary is again the SAB Caddies Educational Trust, which gives local golf caddies and their children the opportunity to apply for finance to further their education. Education fees for successful applicants are covered in full with an additional amount allocated to cover school tours, outings and uniforms. SAB, SuperSport and ABSA are going to match, rand for rand, donations made to the Trust by participants during the event. Castle Lite will additionally be allocating further funds to the Trust through a surprise challenge at the 17th Hole to test participants' golf skills and competitive spirit. The event will be featured on SuperSport. For more information go to www.golfshootout.co.za.
