SA stars to play at Stellenbosch Wine Festival

It has been announced that the 2016 Stellenbosch Wine Festival will include a performance by Karen Zoid, who'll be joined by Kurt Darren. Also on the weekend's programme is Ard Matthews of Just Jinger fame and girl band BlackByrd.

Zoid, who can currently be seen on our screens on The Voice South Africa, will team up with Darren to deliver what will no doubt be a one-of-a-kind performance on Friday evening, 5 February at 7.30pm. On Saturday, 6 February, Luna Paige will take centre stage at 11.30am; the duet, Twee, will perform at 2.30pm and BlackByrd will be the headline act at 4.30pm. Vistiors to the festival on Sunday can enjoy a more chilled musical line-up with Don Veno & Friends at noon, Paige Mac at 1.30pm and Ard Matthews at 3.30pm.

In addition to the music, the festival, will as always deliver on its promise of sumptuous food and delicious wine, courtesy of the finest restaurants and wineries the region.

Taking place over three days from 5 to 7 February in the glorious setting of the Coetzenburg Sports Grounds, this year's festival looks set to be the best one yet, with close on 90 wineries participating.

A host of fun activities

Outdoor enthusiasts can participate in a host of fun activities in the Grape Stomping Ground, including barrel rolling and grape stomping. The slightly more adventurous can try the Momentum Grape MTB ride, taking place on Sunday. This leisurely 17km ride through the gorgeous Jonkershoek Valley is suitable for the whole family. The Gourmet Lane promises to be a hit, and local restaurants will be going all out to impress with their signature dishes. Little guests will find exactly what they're looking for at The Flavours of Pick n Pay, including yummy goodies such as boerewors rolls, wraps, beef mince vetkoek, chicken skewers and a selection of salads. Soft drinks and snacks will also be available.

For extra peace of mind for parents, Momentum Health will have a supervised dedicated Kiddies Area where your little ones will be entertained throughout the day, you relax and enjoy all that's on offer.

Daily festival tickets cost R180 for adults and include a tasting glass. Tickets are available online from www.webtickets.co.za. Children under 18 enter free. Festival opening times are: Friday from 3pm to 9pm; Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
