5FM team takes to wheelchairs

This is part of the expo's drive to create awareness of the event and the importance of educating the public about the challenges and achievements of people with disabilities. When the media personalities have completed the day, they can donate the wheelchairs, provide by ACSA, to a charity of their choice.
The show runs from 6-8 September at the Sandton Convention Centre.
"We are excited to have one of the country's top radio shows supporting our initiative," explains ACSA group manager: communications, Solomon Makgale. "Through the Wheelchair Media Challenge, we hope to start creating conversations in our communities on the importance of celebrating and acknowledging the challenges and achievements of people with disabilities."
He hopes that the show's involvement in this initiative will start mobilising South Africans to be more conscious of the needs and skills of people with disabilities. It is particularly appropriate that the conference and expo is being held at the same time as the Paralympic Games in London. Both events will serve to raise awareness of disability issues.
