Design Indaba introduces Music Circuit

Design Indaba 2013 has curated an ambitious musical tour of the city that will draw its delegates, attendees and the music-loving public to its Design Indaba Music Circuit.

Offering intimate musical experiences in eight venues across the city over three nights, the globally renowned design event (that annually draws over 50,000 visitors), will be presenting live music in ways generally not experienced outside of music festivals.

"We love the idea of Capetonians taking ownership of their city, so for us it's about giving people as much access to all the delights of the city as we possibly can," comments Ravi Naidoo, Design Indaba founder and music enthusiast. While Design Indaba functions as a one-stop design portal, music has always been a large part of it. Since the event first in 1995, its parties have been career-launching showcases for bands such as Freshlyground and Goldfish, now household names.

Creating new experiences

The event aims to create new experiences and coerce collaboration while giving new talent a fresh platform on which to display musical creativity. This year it's taking a halogen spotlight to rock, jazz, lounge, swing, Balkan beats and beyond!

Concerts will take place after the main Design Indaba Conference closes for the day from 5.30pm. The first performance each evening is being held at Design Indabar, the part pop-up bar, part art installation mobile trailer held opposite the CTICC during the conference. Subsequent performances are being held each evening at live music venues around Cape Town from 8pm.

Conference and Young Designers Simulcast delegates are given free access to one Design Indaba Music Circuit event of their choice. Exhibitors and delegates also get free entry to all three Music Circuit events held at Design Indabar. Members of the public will be able to buy tickets at the door to the venue of each individual event.
