In a nutshell the model is as follows: it sells one product only, at a largely discounted price, for one day only.
Every day the product on offer changes and if you've missed out, that is simply too bad. When you access the site, the front page shows the product image, description and price, as well as a clock ticking down to the end of the sales window.
There are a number of international websites that operate in this "one-day deal" model, of which Woot.com is the best known.
Product information on the landing page of OneDayOnly is minimal, so unless you're a serious impulse shopper, you will want to google for further details. Also, the price on display does not include shipping and packaging, which is only quoted once you have provided delivery details as these are calculated on weight and destination.
Recent sale items include a Philips multimedia music player, a Polo handbag, the entire Friends series DVD boxset, and premium luggage items.
You need to be a registered user in order to purchase, and can pay by either credit card or EFT.
There is an extensive FAQs section, but the tone is flippant and there is no phone number provided. Despite this, when I had some concerns about my purchase, I found the team responsive, albeit entirely in digital form.
This may prove off-putting to a new or cautious online shopper, but shouldn't be an obstacle for the "digital generation" and those who are similarly confident about using Internet-based stores.
