Creating Kids Zones at KwaZulu-Natal malls

In a strategic partnership between mall management and the company, these zones see responsible childminders tending to a handful of kids and keeping them productively entertained while parents relax or have the opportunity to enjoy a childfree shop. The Pavilion in Westville, Musgrave Centre and Ballito Lifestyle Centre had Kids Zones over the major school holidays in 2010, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Approximately 150 children per weekend are welcomed to the colourfully decorated picket-fenced, designated area. Fun activities such as storytelling, colouring-in, face painting and a bead workshop keep the children busy. Season appropriate activities such as egg painting and a scavenger hunt for Easter and a soccer ball design over World Cup 2010, gave the kids something to take home to mom and dad as a memento of the day's activities.

Musgrave Centre management praised the service provided during Easter. "The promotion was well-coordinated and efficiently handled and we would definitely use their services once more," says Vinay Panday from Musgrave.
