Fair Cape wins first dairy productivity award

Late last month at the dti's 2010 Productivity SA Awards, held in Johannesburg, Fair Cape Dairies won the Outstanding Productivity Award for the national corporate sector. Reportedly the first dairy company to do so, it competed against Liberty Life, Schaeffer SA, Grano Passi and Orley Foods.

According to Johan Boshoff, operations director, this award is largely due to the efforts and commitment from all employees to improve overall productivity and elevate the brand to world class standards. Joel Serman, commercial manager added, "This award serves as recognition of the company that has shown that a great brand is not simply clever marketing. It is an overall value proposition built on the back of a dedicated team who all subscribe to a shared vision; to be globally valued for our leadership in the dairy industry and to be the preferred supplier of dairy and related products whilst minimising any adverse impact on the environment."

Entrants were required to demonstrate the ability to innovate and be sustainable under the current financial climate and to continue to make positive strides in an effort to be more globally competitive. Nominated companies underwent rigorous examination of their submission criteria. The impact the company has achieved from its productivity programme needs to be quantifiable to the nation, communities, organisations or individuals.
