Another gold for SA estate at MUNDUSvini awards

Spier has won two gold medals at MUNDUSvini in Germany, securing a second successful year at the prestigious wine awards.

Spier Private Collection Merlot 2005 and Spier Private Collection Pinotage 2005 each won gold, while Spier Private Collection Shiraz 2005 was awarded a silver medal.

The estate's cellar master Frans Smit says, “Our goal is to be known across the globe for our Private Collection wines. This is a great result for our newly-released vintage, and an affirmation of our selection of wines, from the vineyard block right through to barrel.”

MD Neville Carew added, “Quality underpins everything we do. The fact that our wines are formally recognised at a global level upholds our mission of ‘taking our wines to the world'.”

MUNDUSvini 2007 attracted close to 5,000 entries, of which 429 were awarded gold. No more than one third of wines entered may be awarded a medal under competition rules.
