Banish brown-envelope journalism
NEWSWATCH: Head of Journalism and Media Studies at Wits University, Professor Anton Harber, says that the recent confession by former Cape Argus journalist Ashley Smith that he accepted money in return for writing articles 'friendly' to former Western Cape premier Ebrahim Rasool, indicates there is a potential problem, reports IOL, which also reports that 3rd Degree producer and presenter Debora Patta has apologised to Chrisna de Kock, the FF+ youth leader she accused, during an earlier show, of racism.
For more:
- IOL: Stamp out cheque book journalism... The acceptance by 'bent' journalists of money (read 'bribes') to write biased articles is under the spotlight, and rightly attracting a great deal of condemnation.
- IOL: Debora Patta apologises to student... OK, you're sorry - now don't do it again.
