Failing to consider the size

Since mobile screens are smaller than computer screens, the site needs to be smaller. Make sure the website fits properly in the mobile screen and that all the important elements are visible.

Having too many images

Having too many images on your site will cause it to load slowly. As a result, you visitors might get impatient and click away. To avoid this, use a minimal number of images in your site and make sure their size is small for faster loading.

Having complex content

Content is very vital for any site. When designing your mobile site, have a limited amount of content. This content should be an excerpt of what is contained in the full site. Make sure the content is not cluttered so as to enable visitors to read it clearly.

Creating lengthy forms

Mobile sites should not have long forms which would take time to fill out. Instead, create simple forms where visitors are only required to submit basic information.

Not offering the full-site option

At times, visitors might be interested in looking at the full website. You need to offer them an option which allows them to do this. If they don't find a way of accessing the full site, they might get frustrated and leave never to return.

Not using collapsible navigation

Collapsible navigation makes it much easier for visitors to get around your site. They can easily find information they require within the different categories. In most cases, a vertical hierarchy of categories works best.

Having a complex layout

When it comes to mobile site design, simplicity is the keyword. When your layout is too complex, it only clutters the mobile screen and causes the site to load slowly. However, this does not mean that you cannot be creative. Just make sure everything is done in moderation.

Not testing the site

Before launching your mobisite, take time to test it on a wide range of devices. Observe every single element of the site. Let people have a look at it and ask them for feedback. This will show you what needs to be improved or modified.
