INDEX: Award nomination for local agency

Worth €500 000, the INDEX: Award presents the best life-improving designs from all over the world in an international touring exhibition. The award focuses not only on the form of design, but on work that has impact, context and the capacity to change lives.

Currently the largest children's HIV unit in the world, ECHO's identity needed to retain a link to HIV but to also reflect hope, love and optimism. Rex's solution is an enthused rendition of the HIV red ribbon, transformed via the addition of one more loop into a heart, and then repeated again and again, in a visual representation of the word ‘echo'.

The first round of adjudication will take place 4 - 6 February 2009, and the second and final round in June. Around 650 nominations worldwide qualified for the adjudication process.

If the ECHO project passes the first round, it will automatically be included in the 2009 INDEX: Award Exhibition which will travel around the world in 2009/10. If it does well in the second round, it will be in line for one of the category awards, as well as the overall award.
