A limited edition design with limitless appeal

In keeping with the Three Ships reputation for pioneering the way for the local whisky industry, the brand recently launched South Africa's first, single cask finish whisky. A limited release aimed at true whisky connoisseurs and brought to life by packaging partners, Just Design.
Only 800 bottles of Three Ships 10 Year Old Single Malt Single Cask PX Finish Whisky have been released, making it a very special collectors' item. Just Design was tasked with creating a bottle and label that was equally as special. True to their usual way of working, they aligned closely with the brand team to create a conceptual design that emphasised the distinctiveness of the limited release whisky.
Just Design based the bottle and label on the recent Three Ships pack upgrade, keeping it simple and understated, adding rareness and richness in the detail of finishes, foil, embossing and colouration. Uncoated paper created a premium look topped by a new closure with paper tap seal. Flint glass was used, as the colour of the liquid is very important - the PX barrel greatly influenced the final darker amber colour of the whisky. Everything about this product, from its intrinsic to the design embellishments, is exceptional.
The first 400 bottles went on sale via a live online feed on 27 October 2015 and were sold out before close-of-day. The remaining sought-after bottles were made available exclusively from Norman Goodfellows, Whisky Brothers and Vinoteque at R850 per bottle.
