The Loerie Awards 2007 South Africa

Loeries partners with Tourism KZN

The Loerie Awards, which are being held in the South Coast town of Margate in the Zulu Kingdom, are expected to contribute in excess of R5 million in tourism revenue, according to newly announced Loeries partner Tourism KwaZulu-Natal.

Margate, traditionally a hive of activity during the summer season and during the annual Sardine Run marine phenomenon in June - will roll out the red carpet for the two day celebration in July 2007, which includes the awards ceremony and cocktail parties, as well as a golf tournament.

Ndabo Khoza, Tourism KwaZulu-Natal's acting CEO, says: “Being awarded the host status for an event such as The Loerie Awards is yet another confirmation of the fact that the Zulu Kingdom is indeed a must-visit destination.

“We aim to use the opportunity offered by the Loeries to convince the advertising community that the Zulu Kingdom is a destination of choice for film and commercials”.

Khoza adds that the provincial tourism authority and the Ugu Municipality are committed to ensuring that the organisers and guests enjoyed an ‘unforgettable tourism experience' in the Zulu Kingdom.

Andrew Human, MD of The Loerie Awards, says, “Our partnership with Tourism KwaZulu-Natal will help us to achieve a smooth running festival weekend for the creative industry.”
